In 2004, God clearly called Pastor Steven Sykes and his family to New Mexico with a burden to plant Bible-believing churches. By God's grace, that work led to the planting of True Light Baptist Church in Los Lunas and Bayard Baptist Church in Bayard, New Mexico, before the Lord led the Sykes family to Deming.
Mt. Calvary Baptist Church was established in 2013 with a commitment to faithful Bible preaching and a love for families in the Deming community. Since that day, it has been Pastor Sykes's joy and privilege to serve as pastor, watching the Lord save souls, strengthen families, and change lives through the preaching of His Word.
The church continues to stand upon the King James Bible and the timeless Gospel of Jesus Christ, serving Deming and southern New Mexico as a lighthouse of hope for generations to come.
